A big match is coming to Bombonera, Boca Juniors stadium. The battle for first place in Group D of the Copa Sudamericana is heating up. This Wednesday, May 15, a key match will be played.

Boca, 2nd with seven points, will host Fortaleza, 1st with nine points, in a match corresponding to the fifth round of the international tournament. Boca started the Professional League with a stumble against Atlético Tucuman at the Monumental José Fierro, where they lost 1-0 last Sunday. Now, the team led by Diego Martínez will try to return to winning ways in Sudamericana. This match is scheduled for 8 pm (EST). Don’t miss the action!

Neither Palmeiras nor Flamengo: the Brazilian Team that is a Sensation

After a great start in the Copa Sudamericana and in the Brasileirao, one of the surprises of the year is dreaming of contending.

It’s no longer strange that Brazilian teams set the pace in international cups, but this year one was added that many did not plan on. In typical coffee table chats, maybe the first names that come up are Palmeiras and Flamengo.

However, neither of those two teams has a better present than Athletico Paranaense, which shows that it can compete after being the only one with a perfect score of 12 points in the Copa Sudamericana and joint leader in the Brasileirao.

This Wednesday, from 6 pm (EST), Athletico Paranaense will face Danubio at home for the fifth round of the Copa Sudamericana. With four consecutive victories in the bag, it will seek to continue on the path of victory. It is already classified to the next round, but if it adds three more points, it will secure first place in Group E.

Athletico Paranaense with the Chance to Win and Secure the Top Spot

At the same time, it is the Athletico Paranaense, featuring the Argentines Bruno Zapelli, Lucas Di Yorio, Tomás Cuello, Leonardo Godoy, and Lucas Esquivel, who lead along with Bahia (with a worse goal difference) in the Brasileirao.

It’s worth noting that the Paranaense team boasts a mix of experienced players like Fernandinho and Pablo and promising young talents. The team also features a strong Argentine contingent, including Godoy and Esquivel, who are often the starting fullbacks under the guidance of coach Alexi Stival. Zapelli plays a key role as the creative force in the team, while Cuello holds his ground on the left side. Di Yorio, despite facing tough competition from his teammates, consistently makes an impact when he comes off the bench.
