American Has Fastest Downhill Training Time
There was training in Alpine Skiing, downhill. American Ryan Cochraine Siegle had the fastest time. He won a silver medal at the last Olympics in Beijing in the Super-G, so he is one of the favorites in the downhill race in 2026. The Super-G is very similar.
Will Lindsay Vonn Compete?
Yes. Lindsey Vonn confirmed that she will compete in a February second press conference from Italy. Vonn announced that she tore her Anterior Curciate Ligament (ACL) in a crash at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in Switzerland last week. ACL injuries usually require months to heal, so this is a little miraculous. The injury looked bad as Vonn had to be airlifted to a local hospital because of the injury. At this point in her career, she is more of a sentimental favorite than a medal favorite.
Will Chloe Kim Compete?
The news is also good for American snowboarder Chloe Kim, who is both a sentimental favorite and a medal favorite. Chloe Kim will miss the Laax Open due to a shoulder injury, but says she will be “good to go” for the Milan Cortina Olympics. The snowboarder updated her injury status in a social media post on February second. The 25-year-old said an MRI revealed a torn labrum, but, according to Kim, the severity of the tear was on the lower end, which will allow her to return to snowboarding “right before the Olympics.”
Gold Medal Favorites
Look for some heavy American gold medal favorites. Look for the so-called “Quad God” Ilya Malkin and speedskater Jordan Stoltz to win big. Malkin is the heavy favorite for the gold medal in figure skating. Jordan Stolz is a 21-year-old from Wisconsin, and he is a favorite in the 500-meter, 1,000-meter, and 1,500-meter races. His teammate, Erin Jackson, may win the women’s 500-meter race. She will be the United States’ flag bearer at the opening ceremony.
