“Jungle” Jack Perry, The Scapegoat, And The Unexpected Normalcy Of Life With Anna Jay
If youโve been watching AEW lately, you know Jungle Jack Perry. Heโs the guy driving a bus through the established order, getting set on fire (literally), and generally acting crazy. He presents himself as a lone wolf, an exile, a guy who eats, sleeps, and breathes resentment.
But apparently, even Scapegoats have to go out for dinner sometimes. When they do, they need someone across the table to tell them to knock it off with the wrestling talk. For Jack Perry, that person is Anna Jay.
Anna Jay Keeps the Scapegoat Grounded
In a recent sit-down on Close-Up with Renee Paquette, Perry dropped the brooding persona for a few minutes to discuss something rarely associated with his current character: stability. It turns out that while Perry has been busy reinventing himself from a jungle boy to a political dissident to a return to tagging with Luchasaurus, Anna Jay has been the one ensuring he doesn’t completely lose touch with reality.
Perry admitted to Paquette that he tends to get obsessive. It makes sense; you don’t go from being a fan favorite to the most hated man in the company without spending a lot of time in your own head. But that obsession doesn’t fly at the dinner table.
โSheโs actually very good for me,โ Perry told Paquette. โWhen I was more obsessive about wrestling and all that, she was always like, โItโs like weโre at a dinner. Can we not do all this right now?โโ
This speaks to a dynamic that is crucial in high-performance sports and entertainment. You need someone who isn’t impressed by the noise. You need someone who sees the person, not the angle.
Perry confessed that he still struggles to turn it off, but credited Anna Jay for being “well-centered.” In an industry built on smoke, mirrors, and work shoots, having a partner who is grounded in actual real life isn’t just a luxury; it’s a survival mechanism.
It feels serious because to them, it is. But having a partner like Anna Jay allows for that necessary step back. It allows for the realization that, yes, while the Continental Classic is important, and the fight with CM Punk was career-altering, at the end of the day, you’re grown adults playing a violent game of pretend in spandex. If you can’t laugh at that occasionally, you’re going to burn out. Or in Perry’s case, get burned up.
Clarifying the Future For Anna Jay
Of course, in the world of professional wrestling, talk of relationships inevitably pivots to talk of contracts. Rumors have been swirling for weeks that the Queenslayer might be looking at free agency sooner rather than later. Reports initially suggested her deal was up imminently, leading to the usual fantasy booking of where she might land next.
However, recent reporting from Fightful Select has poured a bucket of cold water on those rumors. It turns out Anna Jay isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Her contract with All Elite Wrestling reportedly isn’t set to expire until the Spring of 2026.
Final Thoughts – Good News For Perry
This is good news for AEW, but itโs probably even better news for Perry. While wrestling couples certainly survive working in different companies, the travel schedule of a modern wrestler is brutal enough without adding a “ship passing in the night” element to it.
For now, the power couple remains under the same roof. Perry can continue his crusade against the AEW establishment, and Anna Jay can continue her climb up the women’s divisionโall while making sure Jack remembers to actually eat his dinner before cutting a promo on it. Maybe even securing the tag team championships with Luchasaurus in the future.
