Team USA Is Building An Unstoppable Star Studded Roster For World Baseball Classic
Team USA is looking to win the World Baseball Classic for the second time ever, and they’re assembling a super team that no one can stop. With recent commitments from Tarik Skubal and Mason Miller, Mark DeRosa has the best weapons at his disposal in his time managing the team.
Team USA Roster Is Taking Shape
Aaron Judge began assembling the team after being named captain in April. His commitment inspired a wave of top MLB talent to follow suit. Eight months later, the roster is nearly complete and could be the strongest squad the United States has ever assembled. Corbin Carroll and Pete Crow-Armstrong are set to join Judge in the outfield, with Kyle Schwarber slated as the designated hitter.
The infield is equally impressive, featuring Gunnar Henderson, Brice Turang, and Bobby Witt Jr., with Cal Raleigh behind the plate. Other than a first baseman, the lineup is virtually set and exceptionally balanced, filled with elite hitters. While the offense is formidable, the pitching staff is what truly sets this team apart from the competition.
At the top of the rotation for Team USA are two of baseballโs best: Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes. Skubal just secured his second consecutive Cy Young Award, while Skenes earned his first in 2025. Theyโll be joined by Giants ace Logan Webb, Joe Ryan, and Nolan McLean. Each of these pitchers is the ace of their respective MLB team, and now theyโll combine their talents on one dominant staff.
Bullpen Is the Missing Piece
Currently, the biggest roster concern for Team USA is its bullpen, which remains a work in progress. Mason Miller is slated to headline the group, joined by David Bednar and Clay Holmes. Miller brings elite velocity to the back end, while Bednar and Holmes offer opposing hitters distinct challenges with their unique arsenals. Having three dependable relievers is a strong foundation for DeRosa, who will likely continue to aggressively recruit additional pitching talent.
The top target to bolster the bullpen would be Houston Astros Closer Josh Hader. If DeRosa manages to add Hader as the setup man for Miller, the bullpen could become nearly unstoppable. Hader has been one of baseballโs premier relievers, though it remains uncertain if he will commit after dealing with injuries last season. Beyond Hader, Matt Strahm, recently traded to the Kansas City Royals, would also be a strong addition to the bullpen.
With just over 70 days remaining until the World Baseball Classic, Team USA General Manager Michael Hill still has significant work ahead. Nevertheless, he has already done an impressive job assembling the roster. The next steps include adding a first baseman and a few more bench players, after which attention will shift to further strengthening the bullpen.
