NBA Cup All-Tournament Team Announced
If you told a Knicks fan five years ago that their team would be hoarding trophies in December, theyโd probably ask what you were smoking. Yet, here we are in late 2025. The New York Knicks are your NBA Cup champions. And while the organization has hilariously decided theyโre too cool to hang a banner for it at Madison Square Garden, the accolades are piling up regardless.
The league released the All-Tournament Team following New York’s triumph over the San Antonio Spurs, and it is no surprise that the victors get the spoils. The five-man squad is headlined by the Knicksโ dynamic duo, Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, proving that the blockbuster moves are paying dividends.
Jalen Brunson Dominates the NBA Cup
Jalen Brunson owns this tournament. The Knicks captain wasn’t just good; he was undeniable. Brunson secured the MVP honors and was the only player to receive a unanimous 20 votes from the media panel.
Averaging 33.2 points and 5.8 assists while shooting a scorching 46% from deep, Brunson turned the tournament into his personal playground. His 40-point explosion against Orlando in the semifinals was the kind of performance that makes you wonder if heโs secretly 7-feet tall with the heart of a giant. He led the Knicks to a 6-1 record in NBA Cup play, dispatching playoff hopefuls left and right. If there was ever a doubt about who runs the show at MSG, this tournament erased it.
The Big KAT Feasts
Joining Brunson is his running mate, Towns. Despite being hobbled by an injury in the championship game, Towns was a force of nature throughout the NBA Cup. He averaged a double-double with 21.1 points and 10.9 rebounds, creating a nightmare for opposing defenses. His standout performance came against the Heat, where he dropped 39 points and grabbed 11 boards. The Brunson-Towns one-two punch is looking scarier by the minute.
Luka Donฤiฤ and the Lakers Make Noise
Somewhere in Los Angeles, Luka Donฤiฤ is probably wondering what more he has to do. Now donning the Purple and Gold, he was named to the team after putting up video game numbers.
Donฤiฤ averaged a ludicrous 36.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 10.0 assists. He led the Lakers to a perfect 4-0 record in group play before they ran into the Spurs buzzsaw in the quarterfinals. Even in an early exit, you canโt ignore a guy who drops 44 points on Memphis and 43 on the Clippers in the same week.
Rounding Out the Best Of the NBA Cup
The team is rounded out by two of the leagueโs most electrifying guards: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder and De’Aaron Fox of the Spurs. Gilgeous-Alexander was right on Brunsonโs heels in voting, snagging 18 votes, while Foxโs heroics in leading San Antonio to the final earned him a well-deserved spot.
So, while there might not be new fabric hanging in the rafters at the Garden, the message has been sent. The Knicks are for real, the stars are shining, and the NBA Cup has given us a spicy preview of what the playoffs might look like.
