NFL Draft Evaluator Believes Arch Manning Will Be #1 Pick
NFL Draft evaluator Nate Tice believes Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning will be the No. 1 pick in 2026, and here’s why fans should be paying close attention to the decision and what it means for the team.
NFL Draft Evaluator Believes Arch Manning Would Be No. 1 Pick
It’s improbable Manning, 21, will declare for the 2026 NFL Draft after starting his first season in Austin, Texas. But, for some reason, Tice believed that the 21-year-old would be the first overall pick next spring.
Tice believes Manning played well in Texas vs. Florida. The Yahoo Sports and NFL Network writer saw pocket movement with eyes downfield, easy athleticism to scramble and throw off a platform, aggressive throwing, understanding of ball placement, willing to stand in and fire, and good on third down.
Whether or not one agrees, Tice’s belief could reverse the overrated perception among some fans and media members. Manning may be underrated, but Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian needs to provide the New Orleans, Louisiana native with everything to succeed in the 2026 NCAA season at the team level.
Arch Manning’s Outlook
Texas started the 2025 NCAA season with a No. 1 ranking in the preseason polls, which brought pressure on the fans, media members, and perhaps Manning himself.
Manning’s first big game was against the defending National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes. If Texas had won, the Manning family name alive, while boosting his draft stock.
However, Manning completed just 56% of his passes for 170 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. After the shaky start, Texas won three games in a row, but San Jose State, the University of Texas at El Paso, and Sam Houston are far from the most formidable opponents, at least not this season. The lack of competition led some to wonder whether Manning was truly ready.
Final Thoughts
Manning can right the ship in the near future. But, right now, the Isidore Newman alum still growing as a starting quarterback as long he continues to utilize his talent and tools to the maximum.
