Philadelphia 76ers Beat Los Angeles Clippers Behind 39 Points From Tyrese Maxey
The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers played an absolute thriller, with the game coming down to the final seconds. Philadelphia pulled off another comeback, beating Los Angeles 110-108. Former teammates Tyrese Maxey and James Harden both led their teams in scoring tonight and were unstoppable.
76ers Get Another Huge Win
Once again, the Philadelphia 76ers come back after trailing all game to pull off yet another comeback win. They were down 10 points heading into the fourth quarter, outscoring the Clippers 33-25 in the final 12 minutes. The Sixers flipped a switch and made clean stops on defense, which led to more flow on the offensive side of the ball.
Maxey had 39 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal in 41 minutes. This is Maxey’s seventh game this season where he’s had 30+ points and 5+ assists. He was a big reason for their comeback, scoring 27 of his 39 points in the second half. He has taken his game to the next level and has carried this team in all 13 games this year.
Quentin Grimes also made his impact in this game, scoring 19 points off the bench. Grimes has been pivotal to Philadelphia’s success this season and is putting up more points than many starters in the NBA. The 76ers will be back in action on Wednesday to take on the Toronto Raptors, who are currently in first place in the division.
Clippers Continue To Fall
With their loss tonight, the Los Angeles Clippers are now 4-10 on the season. Kawhi Leonard remains out with an ankle injury, having last played on November 3. There is still no timetable for his return, and the Clippers will look to keep their playoff hopes alive early on in the season. They’re just 1.5 games out of a playoff spot, but things could change quickly.
Harden did everything he could to bring home the win, but the rest of the rotation went quiet. The one-person game wasn’t going to work all night, and the 76ers made the proper adjustments later on in the second half. The Clippers’ older roster was definitely exposed in this game, as they couldn’t keep up with Philadelphia’s fast-paced offense led by VJ Edgecombe and Maxey.
The Clippers will travel to Orlando to take on the Magic on Thursday, looking to end a two-game losing streak that began with a loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
