Klay Thompson Slams Former NBA Players Over Megan Thee Stallion Comments
Dallas Mavericks Guard Klay Thompson recently slammed former NBA players Patrick Beverley and Jason Williams for their Megan Thee Stallion comments. Here’s what went down in recent days between Thompson, 35, Beverley, 37, and Williams, 49.
What Did the Former NBA Players Say About Klay Thompson?
Thompson had a right to be upset after reportedly hearing the Tuesday episode of Barstool Sports’ Hoopin’ and Hollerin’ podcast. Beverley and Williams suggested that Stallion could have something to do with Thompson’s offensive struggles.
“I’ve never seen Klay not shoot it like this,” Beverley said before he brought up Stallion. “His routine is thrown off. Iโm not saying it’s herโฆ I watch them on Instagramโฆ The guy was juggling. It’s easy to juggle one thing, but when you put something else in there it’s harder, [your] focus takes off a lil bit.”
Williams didn’t sugar-coat his reaction. “It only takes one p—y to drag a battleship across the desert. That’s how powerful it is,” the 49-year-old said. “Klay Thompson, I ain’t sayin’ that’s what it is, but that might be what it is. And that ain’t taking away nothing away from Megan Thee Stallion, she might be a great girl, you know what I’m saying? Great for him but I don’t know if she’s great for the shot.” Beverley added, “Because that mother f–ker is shortโฆ He’s missing left and right.”
How Did Klay Thompson Respond?
Thompson may not be as outspoken as his former Golden State Warriors teammate Draymond Green, but he didn’t mince his response to Beverley and Williams’ recent comments on the Hoopin’ and Hollerin’ podcast.
“How would yโall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? @patbev21โฆ Do better fellas. Very disappointing,” the 35-year-old wrote.
Stallion has yet to address the situation.
Thompson is averaging 8.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, while shooting 32% from the field and 28.9% from the three-point line โ a far cry from his “Splash Brothers” days with former Warriors teammate Stephen Curry.
Final Thoughts
Last week, Mavericks Head Coach Jason Kidd moved Thompson to the bench after he struggled in the Mavericks’ first seven games of the 2025-26 NBA season. Thompson scored 19 points on 6-of-17 from the field and 6-of-16 from three, during the Mavericks’ 123-114 loss to the Suns on Wednesday. He added three rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes off the bench.
He may or may not improve his game this season, but I doubt Stallion affected him. His poor shooting performance, adjustment to a new team, and lingering effects of previous injuries could’ve affected him. His emotional struggles after suffering many injuries could’ve affected him as well. In addition, Dallas has struggled to integrate him into its offensive system.
