John Cena’s last opponent inside a WWE ring has been revealed. Fans have been discussing the possibilities of who one of the top WWE wrestlers of all time should face in his final match ever since he announced he would be retiring at the end of 2025. However, that person has been revealed. Let’s take a closer look at who it is and what it means going forward.
John Cena vs. Gunther Takes Place at Saturday Night’s Main Event

There has been a 16-man single-elimination tournament dubbed “The Last Time is Now Tournament” to determine who will face John Cena at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event on Dec. 13. With the tournament taking place over the last month of WWE weekly television, we finally have an official winner.
On tonight’s edition of Smackdown, Gunther faced LA Knight in the finals of the tournament in the main event. Gunther won with an STF submission, the same that Cena has used throughout his career, to get the final match of the 17-time WWE Champion’s career.
This match is going to be intriguing for the hard-hitting nature of Gunther and it being the final time we will Cena in the ring for a match. This event will also feature WWE NXT talent on the card as well, making it a preview of the future of the company as well as a send-off to one of its top performers.
It is going to be interesting to see how this match will play out as it is the first (and now last) time Cena and Gunther battle. Gunther also was the man in Goldberg’s retirement match, so is Gunther the new Legend Killer or will Cena walk out of Washington DC as a winner?
