Auston Matthews Exits Game Against Boston Bruins
Toronto Maple Leafs’ star Forward Auston Matthews left the game against the Boston Bruins last night during the second period with an apparent lower-body injury.
Auston Matthews Lower Body Injury
Head Coach Craig Berube did not have an update after the game and said they would know more regarding his status on Wednesday. Matthews was hit by Bruins Defenseman Nikita Zadorov against the boards.
Berube also stated that he did not like the hit, feeling that he was in a vulnerable position when he was hit by Zadorov. He did not receive a penalty on the play. Matthews has 9 goals and 14 points through 17 games this season.
The Boston Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night by a score of 5-3, giving Toronto its third loss in a row while the Bruins have now won seven straight games.
Matthews was not the only Toronto player who left the game hurt. Starting Goaltender Anthony Stolarz left the game after the first period with an upper-body injury. Stolarz let in three goals over 10 shots on goal.
Berube does not think Stolarz’s injury is serious. However, there is no update on his injury. It would be a game-changer for the Maple Leafs if he misses an extended time.
Ahead For the Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs will play against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night at home. They might be without Matthews on Thursday if the injury is serious enough to sideline him.
