Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle Lead Minnesota Timberwolves’ Demolition Of Utah Jazz 137-97
Anthony Edwards scored 37 points, and Julius Randle added a triple-double as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat down the Utah Jazz at the Target Center 137-97 on Friday night. The game was lopsided from the start, as the T-wolves outscored the Jazz 43-15 in the first quarter and never looked back.
Edwards Was Hot From the Start
Edwards did not wait to get going. In just his second game back from a strained hamstring, he hit two three-pointers and a 12-foot jumper in the first 90 seconds, en route to a 14-point first quarter. Edwards shot 7-for-12 on threes and added 5 rebounds in the game.
Randle Is Having a Week
Randle started the week with a triple-double (19 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) against the Nets on Monday. On Wednesday, he dropped 32 points in Madison Square Garden against his former team, the New York Knicks. On Friday, Randle picked up his second triple-double of the week with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists at home against the Jazz. He was one rebound shy of the triple-double by halftime, as Minnesota coasted into the break, up 79-45.
McDaniels Was Solid On Both Ends Of the Floor
Jaden McDaniels also had a good night. The sixth-year forward out of the University of Washington scored 22 points and hit all three of his three-point shots. He also added 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Another Poor Shooting Night For the Jazz
The Timberwolves held the Jazz to 37% from the floor and 23% from behind the three-point line on the night. Meanwhile, Minnesota hit 47% of their threes and shot 57% from the field overall. Coming into the game, Utah was 27th in the league in scoring at 101 points per game, and that average went down after this one. The T-Wolves had ten steals, ten blocked shots, and forced 17 turnovers on the night.
Third-year Point Guard Keyonte George led the Jazz with 18 points. Forwards Lauri Markkanen and Ace Bailey added 12 points apiece, and guard Isiah Collier pitched in 10 points in his first game of the season. Collier had sat out Utah’s first eight games with a hamstring injury.
What’s Up Next?
Minnesota (5-4) travels to Sacramento on Sunday to face the Kings (3-6). The Jazz (3-6) are off until Monday, when they will host the Timberwolves back home in Utah.
