Veteran Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett Released By the Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans reportedly released veteran Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett on Monday according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Lockett asked and received his release, which was granted, from a lowly Titans squad. He will become a free agent and be available to the other 31 teams after 4 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The veteran receiver signed a one-year deal worth up to $6 million this offseason with the rebuilding Titans. He was one of the best receivers in the history of the Seattle Seahawks, and was signed to help provide rookie Quarterback Cam Ward with a sense of stability. That never came to fruition. Lockett’s Titans tenure ended with 10 receptions for 70 yards. Where will he end up?

Following a miserable time with the Titans, it is unclear if Lockett is over the hill at 33, or just caught up with a dysfunctional team. That question will weigh on the minds of any team looking to sign him for the remainder of the 2025 season. He will presumably look to latch onto a contender that needs help at the receiver position. A few possible fits are the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers.
Buffalo, looking to finally break through in the AFC, could use the veteran receiver to pair with second-year wideout Keon Coleman. The 49ers, a team Lockett is intimately familiar with following his time with the Seahawks, have an unbelievable number of injuries at the receiver position. The veteran receiver would make an instant impact with either of these squads.
Final Thoughts
Lockett has been one of the best receivers in the league over the past decade. He will not be unemployed for long, and eager to prove his tough time with the Titans was nothing more than a blip on the road to success.
