Wisconsin Gets Shut Out by Ohio State 34-0
The Wisconsin Badgers were shut out by the Ohio State Buckeyes 34-0 at Camp Randall Stadium. This is the second consecutive shutout for Wisconsin, and this one was against the best defense in the nation. Wisconsin Head Coach Luke Fickell, a former Ohio State head coach, is embattled and may lose his job. If he does, since he was a defensive lineman for the Buckeyes, he could end up as the defensive line coach for Ohio State if Larry Johnson retires. Does that make sense to you?
Wisconsin and Ohio State Scoring Summary
In the first quarter, Carnell Tate caught his first of two touchdown passes in this game, this one for 33 yards. Ohio State led 7-0. Then, Ohio State Kicker Jayden Fielding kicked a 38-yard field goal, and Ohio State led 10-0. In the second quarter, Tate then caught a second touchdown pass, and Ohio State led 17-0.
That was the score at halftime. In the third quarter, Fielding kicked a 37-yard field goal. Ohio State took a 20-0 lead. Later in that quarter, Will Kacmarek caught a touchdown pass, and Ohio State led 27-0. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Brandon Inniss caught a 13-yard touchdown pass. Ohio State led 34-0, which was the final score of the game.
Ohio State left no doubt that they are the best team in the nation, earning its top ranking in the polls. They are far and away the top college football team in the nation; it is a shame they will not get to prove it until the postseason.
News And Notes

- With this win, the Buckeyes have won 11 straight games dating back to last season.
- Eight NFL teams had scouts at Camp Randall Stadium for the game: New York Giants, New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, and Minnesota Vikings.
- This was the second consecutive time Wisconsin was shut out. Ohio State is leading the nation in total defense.
- Julian Sayin had 394 passing yards. They were the most in a game for an Ohio State quarterback since C.J. Stroud threw for 573 yards in the 2022 Rose Bowl.
Julian Sayin
Sayin, the Ohio State quarterback, had a fantastic game against Wisconsin. We are witnessing the emergence of a star quarterback in the redshirt freshman transfer from Alabama. Sayin was a very accurate 36-of-43, with 393 yards passing and four touchdowns. Sayin is very accurate; he has been all season, so it really is not a surprise that he completed so many passes today.
Isaiah West
With the ankle injury to freshman sensation Running Back Bo Jackson, West got some carries today in the game against Wisconsin. West had nine carries for 55 yards. Do not look now, Ohio State may have found a fourth running back. Running backs in football are a little like starting pitchers in baseball; you can never have enough of them. This is the needed depth for Ohio State that may loom large later.
Conclusion
Wisconsin is struggling mightily. They were shut out today, this time at the hands of the best defense in the nation. In the last game, Wisconsin was shut out by the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa, an anemic offensive team, scored 37 points against the Badgers; Ohio State only scored 34. The Buckeyes are idle next week before hosting the embattled Penn State Nittany Lions on November 1. In fact, Ohio State has a weak schedule remaining in the regular season. Fans hope such weakness will not hamper them in the College Football Playoff.
