Yes There’s Been Another Matt Riddle Controversy, Charity No-Show Scandal
Yes, there has been another Matt Riddle controversy. What else is new? It’s hard to keep track of how many times this man has been in the news. This time, it’s over allegations that he no-showed a charity wrestling event in the UK – and honestly, the whole situation is messier than a Royal Rumble gone wrong.
The Charity Event That Wasn’t (According to Riddle)
On August 31, Global Wrestling Kingdom (GWK) was set to host “A New Kingdom Rises” in Barnsley, England. The event was supposedly raising money for survivors of domestic abuse and homeless veterans. Riddle was scheduled to face Simon Miller in what should have been a feel-good story about wrestling giving back to the community. Well, it did not happen as he no-showed the event.
Matt Riddle’s Side: A Tale of Cheap Flights and Broken Promises
Never one to stay quiet, he decided to fire back with his own version of events. According to Riddle, GWK booked him a Thursday flight for a Sunday show and promised him meet-and-greets, additional matches, and various appearances throughout the weekend. According to Riddle, none of that materialized. “I told you multiple times I can’t do that or wouldn’t do that.”
But here’s where it gets really interesting – Riddle had work commitments Thursday through Saturday. He offered a reasonable compromise: fly out Saturday evening instead. When GWK refused to accommodate this change, even after he offered to pay for the alternative flight himself, things went south faster than a botched high-flying move.
The Charity Controversy: Last-Minute Changes and Conflicting Stories
Riddle then claimed the charity aspect was a “last-second change” and that the show wasn’t originally planned as a fundraising event. Yeah, he’s full of it because GWK fired back, stating that Al Snow had announced four weeks prior that profits would be donated to Help 4 Homeless Veterans and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide.
Riddle is a BS artist, and when it comes to BS artists, you don’t know when the BS stops and the truth begins. Riddle has told a lot of BS stories that are full of lies. BTW, who thought it was a good idea to book him for this show when he’s been accused of sexual assault during the speaking out movement?
The Replacement Hero: Grado Saves the Day
While all this drama was unfolding, Scottish wrestler Grado stepped up like a true champion. The man drove over five hours from Ayrshire to Barnsley just to fill in for the missing Matt Riddle. Now that’s what we call taking one for the team – and probably earning himself some serious goodwill in the process.
Matt Riddle’s Nuclear Response: OnlyFans and Fighting Words
But wait, there’s more! In typical Riddle fashion, he didn’t stop at just explaining his side of the story. In a follow-up video that was about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the skull, he went completely off the rails and even threw CM Punk under the bus.
Riddle basically told anyone who believed the allegations against him to get lost, promising he’d keep getting booked, start fighting again, and – in perhaps the most eyebrow-raising comment of all – mentioned “crushing on OnlyFans.” Because nothing says “professional wrestler” quite like pivoting to adult content creation, right?
The Bottom Line: Another Chapter in Matt Riddle’s Controversial Career
From his WWE departure, his drug suspensions, the whole JFK airport fiasco, and now this. Â In a business where your word is supposed to be your bond, situations like these don’t do anyone any favors. He will go down as a classic example of wasted potential in pro wrestling history.
