MJF Says “I Do” Marries Real-Life Love Alicia Atout
Well, folks, it finally happened. The man who proudly proclaims he’s “better than you, and you know it” has officially been taken off the market. Maxwell Jacob Friedman(MJF), the wrestler we all love to hate, has tied the knot with AEW’s own backstage interviewer, Alicia Atout. In a world where wrestling storylines often bleed into reality, this is one crossover event that has the entire community buzzing.
The news broke, as most things do these days, on social media. Photos of the happy couple quickly made the rounds, confirming that the self-proclaimed “Devil” had indeed found his angel—or perhaps, his devilish counterpart. For those who’ve followed their journey, this isn’t exactly a shocker. Their relationship, which went public in late 2023, has been a fascinating subplot both on and off-screen.
MJF’s Big Day: From “Tits McGee” To Mrs. Friedman
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the beautiful, and frankly hilarious, evolution of this relationship. Not too long ago, during their time in MLW, MJF was affectionately—and I use that term loosely—calling Atout “Tits McGee from Whore Island.” Fast forward a few years, and she’s now Mrs. Friedman. If that isn’t a modern-day wrestling romance and fairy tale, what is?
Atout herself acknowledged this poetic journey in an Instagram story, posting a picture of the two with the caption, “From Tits McGee to Mrs. Friedman. I love you.” It’s a testament to… something. Maybe it’s that even the most abrasive characters can find love, or maybe it’s just proof that a good storyline can start anywhere. MJF, ever the sentimentalist, tweeted about the “death of a bachelor,” poetically adding, “Even when I’m old and grey I’m gonna feel the way I do today.” Aww, see? He’s not so bad. (He is.)
An All-Elite Guest List: Kayfabe Takes a Backseat
One of the more surreal aspects of this whole affair was the guest list. AEW commentator and ECW legend Taz was in attendance with his son, HOOK. A photo even surfaced of MJF and HOOK striking Taz’s iconic pose together. It’s the kind of wholesome content you don’t expect from guys who are usually trying to tear each other apart on television.
AEW President Tony Khan was also present, and in his typical, understated fashion, he declared it the “best wedding ever.” He later backtracked slightly, perhaps remembering he’d also attended Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti’s wedding, and introduced his very own “Wedding Star Ratingsâ„¢.” You have to love the man’s dedication to the gimmick. It’s this delightful blurring of lines between reality and performance that makes wrestling so endlessly entertaining. For one night, at least, kayfabe took a holiday and MJF became a winner again.
What Does This Mean For The Devil?
So, what happens now? Does marriage soften the “Salt of the Earth”? Will we see a more… domesticated version of MJF on our screens? I wouldn’t bet on it. If anything, this just adds another layer to his already complex character. He now has a real-life connection that his opponents can, and absolutely will, use against him. The material just writes itself.
For now, let’s raise a glass to the newlyweds. In a business built on rivalries and animosity, it’s a rare and genuinely nice thing to see two people find happiness. Mazel tov to the Friedmans. We’ll see how long the honeymoon period lasts before someone gets put through a table. This is wrestling, after all.
