Ceedee Lamb’s 2 Late Crucial Drops Cost Dallas Against Reigning Super Bowl Champs
The Dallas Cowboys had a competitive performance in their 2025 debut in Philadelphia against the reigning champions Eagles. The Final Score was 24-20, Philly; however, Cowboys fans are probably going to talk about the what-ifs about their star wide receiver Ceedee Lamb late in this ball game. In the second half of this game alone, Lamb had THREE Crucial Drops late in the second half of this game, including two devastating drops on Dallas’s last drive. Let’s talk about Lamb’s performance.
Lamb’s First Half was Electric
Lamb had four receptions for 86 yards in the first half of this game, which was a huge reason why the Cowboys were having success in this game early. He was the driving force of the passing game for Dallas versus Philadelphia early in the game. The only bad part of this situation for Lamb and the Cowboys was that the second half of this game happened, and that’s where the chaos for him happened.
Lamb’s TWO Devastating Drops on Dallas’s Last Drive

The Cowboys had the ball with over 3 minutes to go with all three timeouts. The Redonklous Odds of them winning the game were astronomically high at that point. After a Quinyon Mitchell dropped interception, Dallas was primed and ready to take advantage of that opportunity right away, but then the first drop happened. It was a deep crosser over the middle of the field, and Dak Prescott had the most beautiful throw over the middle of the field to Lamb, and he bobble the ball and tipped it towards Eagles safety Reed Blankenship, but it fell to the ground incomplete.
Then the one to seal the game happened a few plays later, on FOURTH DOWN. Lamb had a one-on-one fade route against Cooper Dejean on the left-hand side. Dak Prescott had to get rid of the ball because of a blitz called by Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio on the left-hand side of the offensive formation. Hence, the ball was a bit overthrown but was still catchable, especially for a receiver like the former Oklahoma Sooner is capable of making. The diving attempt for Lamb fell short by a few inches, and the Eagles were able to run out the clock afterward.
Final Thoughts
The Dallas Cowboys were able to provide some great fight against their NFC East rivals, but a few plays here and there cost them, and it was the guy they rely on 10 out of 10 times to make the plays when needed, and he just didn’t make them when it mattered the most. Lamb will bounce back from this, especially when he still had over 100 yards in the game for the Cowboys in this one. The Cowboys will look to bounce back in Week 2 after a 10-day rest period against the New York Giants.
