Indianapolis Colts: Who Will Be QB 1 With Preseason Wrapping Up?
The Indianapolis Colts just finished their second preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, and I believe that the quarterback competition is over. We are just waiting on the announcement. There are plenty of reasons I say this, and in this article, I will point out the reasons why. I will also dive into why I believe this defense can be a top-five defense by the end of the season. Let’s dive into it and see who I believe the starting quarterback will be.
Colts’ Second Preseason Game
Head Coach Shane Steichen said after the game, “I’m extremely close to a decision.” After hearing that and seeing what both quarterbacks were able to do in the game against the Packers. Here are my thoughts. First, Daniel Jones had two series with the starters in which he was 7-of-11 for 101 yards and put up three points in those series.
Anthony Richardson Sr. worked with the backups and went 6-of-11 for 73 yards and put up 10 points. The other thing to point out is that Jones also looked overwhelmed in the first series as he almost fumbled a snap. I believe that Steichen will announce that Richardson Sr. will be the starter, and that announcement will happen sometime this week.
The defense will be a top-five defense by the end of the season if everyone stays healthy. The team has yet to show what the first team looks like, but what has been shown is very encouraging. The way the defensive line can get pressure to the quarterback and how well the corners are covering is a great sign. Chris Lamons had a couple of pass breakups against the Packers.
Final Thoughts
I believe that Colts fans should be prepared for an announcement this week on the QB, and stay tuned to Total Apex Sports for season-long coverage of the Indianapolis Colts.
