Los Angeles Lakers Bring Back Center Jaxson Hayes On 1-Year Deal

The Los Angeles Lakers continued to bolster their roster on Thursday evening. They signed Center Jaxson Hayes to a one-year contract. At the time of publication, the exact terms of the contract are unknown. Hayes is coming off a good season with the Lakers. He became the team’s starting center when they traded away Anthony Davis in February. Hayes averaged 6.8 points per game and 4.8 rebounds during the regular season. He did not play a big role in the postseason. How will Hayes fare with the Los Angeles Lakers next season?

Los Angeles Lakers Season Outlook

Los Angeles entered the NBA Playoffs with high expectations. They ultimately fizzed out in the 1st round against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers entered the offseason in dire need of addressing the center position. They have done that over the last few days. They signed Deandre Ayton and brought back Hayes to back him up. Point Guard Luka Doncic plays better with a center he could toss lobs to. Both Ayton and Hayes fit the bill.

Final Thoughts 

Even with the moves the Los Angeles Lakers made this offseason, they are nowhere near a championship team. The team has some uncertainty surrounding its roster. LeBron James’ camp has given indications that he is exploring all options. There has also been reporting that multiple teams could look to trade for him in the coming months. Los Angeles is also reportedly fielding calls for Austin Reaves. Los Angeles must figure out who will play on their team next season. In the meantime, Hayes is a solid depth player for the Lakers.
