Here are the most Googled rookies and players of the 2024-25 season, including the NBA Playoffs and Finals, per VegasInsider.com.
NBA: The Most Googled Rookies of 2024-25
After the NBA Finals, there’s plenty to look forward to in the offseason. VegasInsider.com has analyzed the Google searches of the entire season, including the playoffs and finals (from October 2024 to June 2025), to find out who have been the most Googled NBA players, along with the most Googled NBA rookies in the U.S. According to VegasInsider.com’s analysis, Los Angeles Lakers’ Bronny James was the most Googled NBA rookie in 47 states. The remaining three states’ results that differed were Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana.
Kentucky’s most Googled rookie was the Houston Rockets’ Reed Sheppard, who was born in London, Kentucky, and attended the University of Kentucky. In contrast, Tennessee’s most Googled rookie was the Los Angeles Lakers’ Dalton Knecht, who transferred to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and Indiana’s most Googled rookie was the Memphis Grizzlies’ Zach Edey, who attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
NBA: The Most Googled Players of 2024-25
VegasInsider.com’s analysis didn’t stop with the rookies. VegasInsider.com also analyzed the Google searches of the top 100 players of the 2024-25 season. Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James turned out to be the most Googled player in 44 states. The remaining six states’ results that differed were Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, North Dakota, and Minnesota. Minnesota and North Dakota’s most Googled player was Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves. In contrast, the most Googled player in Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts was Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.
Final Thoughts
Aside from the rookies and players, VegasInsider.com also shared additional analysis with the general public. The second most Googled NBA player at the start of the 2024-25 season was Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks. Doncic, 26, is now with the Los Angeles Lakers. Doncic’s average monthly searches worldwide were 3,350,000, and average monthly searches in the United States were 1,830,000.
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was the third most Googled player, with an average of 3,350,000 monthly searches worldwide and 1,220,000 monthly searches in the United States. Curry, 37, has made his retirement plans clear, but isn’t rushing to retire as he’ll become a UFA in 2027.
