Chris Paul Striving for Los Angeles Move If He Returns for 21st Season
Future Hall of Famer Chris Paul is still contemplating the decision on whether or not his going to return to the game of basketball for his 21st NBA Season next year. If he does, it will likely be with one of the Los Angeles teams. Earlier this offseason, Paul was on the Pat McAfee Show when the show was in North Carolina for the TST.Â
He said on the show then that he wants to be close to his children, which is the noble and responsible thing to do as a parent, which I agree with personally. The veteran point guard could add a whole lot to the table for both LA teams as a veteran backup, and we could finally get that Lebron/CP3 team up if he decides to go to the Lakers. Here are some more thoughts on Paul’s situation.Â

So both LA teams would be great fits for Paul, especially the Lakers, as they need more depth in general, but the Dallas Mavericks are also in the market for a point guard until Kyrie Irving returns from a torn ACL, so the point guard they’ll decide to get for the veteran’s expectation will be a starter for half the season. Even though Paul would be a great addition for the Mavericks as well, he’s going to be either a Laker or Clipper when it’s all said and done if he does return, because of importance of being with his family means to him.Â
Final Thoughts
I think this is the right decision for Paul in the long run, for his life to be in Los Angeles, for his potential last season to be with family. It’ll be interesting to see which LA team makes the push to sign the Vet in the offseason when free agency begins officially next week. Paul is coming off his healthiest season in a long time, where he played all 82 games for the Spurs.
