Walter Clayton Jr. Selected No.18 Overall By Washington Wizards In 2025 NBA Draft
The Washington Wizards selected Walter Clayton Jr. N0. 18 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. He will not play for the Wizards though as he was traded to the Utah Jazz as part of a draft day trade. Utah gave up the No. 21 overall pick and future second-round picks for his services.
Clayton Jr. enters the NBA following an NCAA Tournament run for the ages. He averaged 22.3 points per game during “March Madness” and was named the Most Outstanding Player(MOP). He was a crucial part of the Florida Gators winning the championship a few months ago. How will he fit with the Utah Jazz?
Walter Clayton Jr.’s Fit With Utah
Even though the Jazz have had a tough past few years on the court, their roster is not devoid of talent. The rookie will play alongside Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler. Clayton Jr. will also play with the No. 5 overall pick from the 2025 NBA Draft, Ace Bailey. This will create a dynamic duo for a franchise mired in failure.
Final Thoughts
It is a new era in Utah. Clayton Jr. and Bailey will hopefully be franchise cornerstones for the team as they look ahead to the future. The UF product will bring his championship pedigree to a team looking to turn the corner sooner rather than later.
