Houston Rockets Select Khaman Maluach with The 10th Pick in the NBA Draft
The 10th pick in the NBA draft will be traded to the Phoenix Suns from the Houston Rockets. The Rockets have taken Khaman Maluach, but this is written with the knowledge that he is going to the Phoenix Suns with the 10th overall pick in the NBA Draft. Maluach stands at 7’2 and is only 18 years of age. The Phoenix Suns needed some size in their backcourt to back up Devin Booker and Jalen Green, and that’s exactly what they’re getting in Maluach. Maluach is one of the many players that was selected in the top ten in the NBA draft that went to Duke.Â
Khaman Maluach was drafted 10th Overall
Khaman Maluach averaged 8.6 points per game, 0.5 assists per game, and had a 71.2 FG percentage. Maluach fit nicely in the Suns’ backcourt behind Jalen Green and Devin Booker. Booker and Green are two players who enjoy having the ball in their hands, so Maluach should fit nicely. The Suns are going to need a big man in the backcourt to grab all of those offensive and defensive rebounds.Â
It’ll be interesting to see what the Suns do with this backcourt, as it’s being reported that the Suns have traded for Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets. How will the Suns be able to manage Khaman Maluach and Mark Williams in the same backcourt? It’ll add an interesting dynamic to the Suns’ roster going into next season. The fact of the matter is that Phoenix is going to have a ton of size on the glass going into next season.Â
Final Thoughts
The Suns accomplished what they set out for with this pick. Mark Williams and Maluach certainly add a mix of leadership and young talent on the back end for the Suns. The Suns now have a more balanced roster from top to bottom.
