Houston Rockets-Point Guard Fred VanVleet Agree On 2-Year Contract

The Houston Rockets and Point Guard Fred VanVleet agreed on a two-year $50 million contract to remain with the team Wednesday afternoon. This contract includes a player option for the 2026-27 season. The team is declining the point guard’s $44.9 million team option for the 2025-26 season.

VanVleet is coming off a strong season with the Houston Rockets. He averaged 14.1 points and 5.6 assists for a team that shockingly was the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. He increased his production in the NBA Playoffs averaging 18.7 points against the Golden State Warriors in the opening round. Will VanVleet help the Rockets continue to improve?

The Houston Rockets will look far different than they did in the NBA Playoffs a few months ago. The team acquired Kevin Durant on Sunday in a blockbuster trade that shook up the Western Conference and the National Basketball Association.

VanVleet will return to form one of the most dynamic starting lineups in the NBA. He will play alongside Durant, Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, and Alperen Sengun. He will continue to bring his championship pedigree to a team that will enter next season with championship aspirations.
