Sabrina Ionescu’s Elite 34-Point Performance in Bounce Back Win
The Liberty lost their first game of the year over the weekend thanks to the return of the brightest young star of the league by far, Catlin Clark! So the Liberty were looking to get back on track and did that with a strong 86-81 victory over the Dream on Tuesday night, thanks to star point guard Sabrina Ionescu’s performance. Sabrina had 34 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals on Tuesday Night. Ionescu was once again efficient and the best player on the court for the Liberty. Let’s dive into the performance a little bit more.
Review of Ionescu’s Performance
Ionescu was again efficient from the field as she shot 60% from the field and 50% from the three-point range in this game. Ionescu and the Liberty fought back from a deficit in this game against the Dream, and Ionescu had some interesting post-game thoughts about that sentiment after the game …
“We’re really proud of the way that we fought,” Ionescu said after the game. “And, obviously, that game could have easily gone the other direction and us just kind of giving up and being frustrated, and I think you were able to see a team that stayed together, dug really deep and then kind of just figured it out on the fly.”
Sabrina was able to take over the game with her ability to drive and score from all three levels, which led to that efficiency that I pointed out earlier. It was also great to see Ionescu take her post-game words to heart.
Final Thoughts
Sabrina and the Liberty were able to show the heart of a champion and bounce back right away from the loss to the Fever, thanks to the point guard’s electric performance in the comeback against the Dream. The Liberty will look to continue their hot season in their next game against the Mercury on Thursday Night.
