Marina Mabery’s Sensational 34 Points Against the Dream

Mabery in Friday night’s 84-76 victory over the Dream had 34 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a block. The former Notre Dame star shot 13 for 22 from the floor in this game, as the Sun got their first home win of the season against a Dream team that has had its ups and downs themselves this season as they’re working out their chemistry with new addition Brittany Griner. Mabery’s Performance

Mabery had 15 first-half points in this game, so when you look at that as a basketball savant, you could tell that she was going to go off for a thirty-point performance at least. Mabrey has been the focal point of a below-average Connecticut Sun team so far in 2025, and this performance from her is a sign that she is still trying her best each night, even though the situation is not the best one for her currently, especially after the loss of Stephanie White in the offseason. 

In this game, she was also two points shy of her career high of 36, which she set a couple of years ago against the Fever. I think if she stays in Connecticut, that career high could be smashed, as she’s the team’s main option on the offensive end of the floor, and performances like this are a reason why we should look at her to be an All-Star potentially this season.

Mabery and the Sun haven’t been a great team so far this season, but on Friday night, they created a moment that could catapult them into some momentum going forward the rest of the season. Also, Mabery proved that she is still a strong asset for a potential contender if they want to trade for the star.
