Paige Bueckers’ Elite Performance for 1st WNBA Win
Paige Bueckers had 21 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in the Dallas Wings’ 109-87 win over the Connecticut Sun for the Wings’ first win of the 2025 season and the first win of Paige Buckets’ career to this point in the return to Connecticut. Bueckers was her normal, efficient self, like her days at UCONN throughout her career. This performance from Bueckers was the performance that the Wings have been waiting for from her from the jump, as the Wings have been struggling to start the season. Here’s a little bit more of a deeper dive into this performance from the UCONN product.
Bueckers made some History in this game
Bueckers, to go along with her 21,7 and 5, had two steals and a block as well in this stellar game from the rookie. But that was not the most significant part of her game. She became the only player in WNBA History to have 60 points and 30 assists through her first five games of her career.
Paige Bueckers is already making her mark on the league 👏

She is also the first rookie since 2005 (Temeka Johnson) to have 21-5-7 on 80% shooting from the field in a game as well. Bueckers is officially back on track in the Rookie of the Year race with the Mystics’ Sonia Citron, who has also been killing it in the first week of the year. This Rookie of the Year race is something to keep an eye on for the rest of the year now.

Bueckers’ Response to the Win
Bueckers was asked by Wings reporter Myah Taylor afterwards about the last time she started 0-4? Here’s how she responded to that question. “I can’t remember,” Bueckers said. “But there’s no time like the present.” That is the UCONN coming out of her in that quote, ready to move on to the next game. Hopefully, the Wings can carry the momentum from this game on to their next game.
Final Thoughts
The Wings will be playing the Chicago Sky in the next two games, so this could be the birth of a win streak, especially with how Angel Reese is currently playing at the moment. Thursday’s game is going to be on Prime Video. Look for Paige to continue her momentum against another team that is struggling, as this could be a great matchup for her.
