Aces’ Duo Propels to an Outstanding 87-62 Win Against Sun
The Las Vegas Aces got a huge bounce-back 87-62 win on Tuesday evening over the Connecticut Sun, thanks to the newly minted duo of A’ja Wilson and Jewell Loyd. Wilson had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Loyd added 20 points with six three-pointers made. The Aces needed this bounce-back win in a big way after getting beaten badly by the Liberty over the weekend. Meanwhile, for the Sun, Tina Charles was the leading scorer with 20 points in this game. Here’s a quick synopsis of this game in a quick blur.
Aces’ Balanced Scoring to Go along with Dup
The Aces had two other players in double figures to go along with the Loyd/Wilson duo. Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young each had double figures. That was pretty much all the Aces would need in this game, which is a good sign for them in this season for the long-term success of it. Another thing this showed was the ability to move the basketball and have a somewhat efficient offense. I can’t say the same for the Sun, however.
The Sun is an Early Candidate for the Worst Team in the WNBA.
The Sun had 16 turnovers, and only Charles and one other player were in double figures in the entire game. The Sun were ravaged in the offseason in free agency with the departures of their head coach Stephanie White and several of their stars in the offseason so this type of result was going to be expected at times with a team lacking major talent. But Marina Mabrey struggling like this, shooting-wise wise in the first couple of games is not something to be expected.
Final Thoughts
The Aces needed a bounce-back win to prove that they could still be amongst some of the contenders for the WNBA Title this season, even though most people who saw the Liberty game might have dismissed their case already. This game also showed that the Sun could be in for a long season themselves unless some things change for the better within the next few games or so. Total Apex Sports will have more WNBA coverage throughout the season.
