Los Angeles Angels Cap Off Great 3-Game Series Against Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Angels made history over the weekend with their play on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the first time the Angels had swept the Dodgers in a three-game series since 2010. The Angels outscored the Dodgers 23-15 over the three-game set.
The Dodgers are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball. With that sustained winning comes success at home. The Los Angeles Angels are the first team to sweep the Dodgers in a series at home since the Atlanta Braves did so on August 31-September 2, 2023. Will the Los Angeles Angels use this series as a way to jumpstart their 2025 season?

It has been a slow start to the regular season for the Angels. They are in last place in the American League West with a record of 20-25. The Angels’ offensive explosion against the Dodgers was surprising because the unit has been one of the league’s worst this season. They are 27th in batting average, 22nd in runs scored, and third in home runs. Even though the team has relied on the long ball, it has not helped improve the offense. Left Fielder Taylor Ward has been the club’s best offensive player. He is seventh in the league in home runs.
The pitching staff of the Los Angeles Angels has also struggled. They are 25th in ERA, 28th in opposing batting average, and 29th in WHIP. The team’s bullpen ERA is a horrendous 7.06. Understandably, the Angels have been unable to overcome those issues.
Final Thoughts
The Angels look to keep up their high level of play this evening when they hit the road to begin a four-game series against the Athletics. While this season is not expected to be a fruitful one for the Angels, the series against the Dodgers was exciting.Â
