Arizona Diamondbacks Waste Another Great Offensive Showing
The Arizona Diamondbacks suffered a crushing 14-12 loss on Saturday night at home against the Colorado Rockies. Entering Saturday night’s contest, the Diamondbacks were 151-0 when scoring 12+ runs in a game. They are now 151-1.Â
The Diamondbacks are no stranger to letting big offensive performances fall by the wayside. They have lost three times in 2025 when scoring 11+ runs in a game. Those losses came on April 18 against the Chicago Cubs, 14-11 on May 9 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and last night against the Rockies. Will the Arizona Diamondbacks be able to hold onto big leads going forward?
Arizona Diamondbacks Season Summary
The Diamondbacks are 24-22 and in fourth place in the National League West. Arizona’s offense has been one of the league’s best. They are seventh in batting average, fourth in home runs, and fifth in runs scored. Third Baseman Eugenio Suarez has been strong this season. He is top five in the league in home runs and RBI.
Arizona’s pitching staff, as was on display last night, has been miserable this season. They are 24th in ERA, 22nd in opposing batting average, and 22nd in WHIP. Starting Pitcher Zac Gallen has struggled this season. He is 3-5 with a 5.14 ERA. His woes have been surprising because he has three top 10 Cy Young Award finishes over the last five seasons.
Final Thoughts
The Arizona Diamondbacks look to rebound this afternoon for the final game of their three-game set against the Colorado Rockies. Saturday night’s game was a microcosm of Arizona’s 2025 campaign. They have a great offense, but have been unable to overcome a poor pitching staff.
