Stephen Curry’s Devastating Hamstring Injury Puts Him Out for 1 Week
Warriors Guard Stephen Curry left Game 1 early in the second quarter on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday, Warriors fans and the rest of the world received the bad news of the injury thanks to the league’s best insider, now Shams Charania. Charania reported that he suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain and he will have to miss at least 1 week of action. This put Golden State in a tough position against a talented Minnesota Timberwolves team. This is why they got Jimmy Butler, and Butler is going to have to step up.
The Impact of the Curry Injury
Curry is the greatest shooter to ever step onto an NBA Court, EVER, HANDS DOWN, NO QUESTION! So the Warriors plan their game plan a lot of the time around how to get the ball to him, no matter what the situation arises, Curry is normally the No. 1 option, and now Butler is going to have to be that guy that the ignition of the offense along with the surging Buddy Hield. Butler has had two great runs to the NBA Finals in the last few years as the No.1 option, so he is very capable of doing it again in 2025 as long as Curry is on the sidelines.
The Warriors are in a tough situation with the injury as the Timberwolves will look to capitalize on it starting Thursday evening. It might take Draymond as well making some threes as he did in Game 1 along with Butler and Hield. It will be interesting to see how Steve Kerr will adjust without Curry for the first time in the Postseason in a while.
Final Thoughts
The Warriors are going to have a short time to adjust without Steph at this time, and I think Butler and Hield can keep doing what they are doing. However, the Ant-Man in Minnesota will have something to say about it at the end of the day, as this series that was already intriguing just became even more so, especially when it comes to how the Warriors will adjust schematically. Look for Green to assume the role of point forward like he did after the injury in Game 1.
