Jannik Sinner Opens Up On Relationship Rumors With Russian Model
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is officially back on the professional tennis tour. The Italian missed the last three months due to a doping suspension as part of his agreement with WADA. However, the World No. 1 is in the news in more ways than one. Outside of his doping suspension, rumors are flying around about his relationship status.
In the build-up to the upcoming Rome Masters, Sinner was spotted multiple times with Russian model Lara Lieto. This triggered a social media meltdown with everyone claiming that Sinner may have a new partner in his life. However, now, in the tournament’s press conference, the Italian has opened up on the matter.
What Has Jannik Sinner Said About His Relationship Rumors?
Sinner claimed the news linking him to a new relationship status was fake. He said that he wants to stay focused on tennis as he returns to the sport after three months. The World No .1 said in the pre-tournament press conference at the Italian Open, “Off the court, I was very surprised to see some pictures… nothing, nothing, nothing serious. I’m not in a relationship.”
Sinner was previously in a relationship with tennis star Anna Kalinskaya. The duo were seen together multiple times in the back end of the 2024 season. The biggest moment came when Sinner won the US Open title and Kalinskaya came to see the match against Taylor Fritz. The duo were seen having a kiss after the final and took multiple pictures with the US Open trophy.
However, in the past few months, Sinner and Kalinskaya have not interacted. Neither has been following the other on their Instagram accounts. It should be noted that Kalinskaya was also in a relationship with Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios in 2020.
Final Thoughts
Sinner has disclosed that he is not in a relationship with Lieto. However, the World No. 1 has not spoken about his relationship status with Kalinskaya. It just adds to the fact that the Italian had plenty of problems outside of the court in his rise to the World No. 1 in the ATP rankings. With his doping scandal and the WADA agreement behind him, he wants to stay focused on his game and take on the best players in the world at the Italian Open. The build-up to Roland Garros has officially started.
