Disappointing News for Tyrion Davis-Price and Good News For UFA Giles Jackson
The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles finished the weekend with one cut and one signing to keep their roster at the maximum 90 players. How will these roster moves work out for the team?
Cut: Running Back Tyrion Davis-PriceÂ
Tyrion Davis-Price was picked in the third round in the 2022 draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Davis-Price lasted just two seasons with the 49ers and was picked up by the Eagles last year. Davis-Price was on the practice squad for most of the season, appearing in just one regular season game.Â
An 83rd overall draft pick, Davis-Price has yet to come close to the brilliance he brought to LSU during college. He ran for over 1,700 yards in LSU his career and ran for 1,003 yards with 6 touchdowns in his junior year. In the NFL, he has run for less than 150 yards in three seasons.Â
Signed: Giles Jackson As An UFA
Giles Jackson is a smaller wide receiver (5-foot-9, 187 pounds) with good speed who mostly played special teams at Michigan and scored two touchdowns on returns. He then transferred to Washington for the opportunity to play more at wide receiver. His last game at Washington was a breakout performance, as it included 11 catches and 4 touchdowns in the Sun Bowl.Â
Jackson will want to showcase his special teams skills, as the Eagles wide receiver room is already filled with seven players that includes A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
