Craftsman Truck Series: SpeedyCash.com 250 at Texas Motor Speedway Race Highlights
What an eventful night it was at Texas Motor Speedway at the SpeedyCash.com 250. Drivers were initially expected to practice at 2:30 p.m. and move straight into qualifying at 3:40. However, severe weather cells plaguing the Dallas-Fort Worth area prevented either. Therefore, drivers were qualified according to their current points standings. Tyler Ankrum started the field, trailed by Daniel Hemric (P2), Jake Garcia (P3), Corey Heim (P4), and Grant Enfinger (P5), rounding out the top five.
Ankrum returned after ending a 130-race winless streak at the North Carolina Education Lottery 250 at Rockingham. All eyes were on the McAnally-Hilegmann driver because many expected him to do well, and why not? Statistically, drivers who break winless streaks tend to sweep more races, so this was not too far off the rails. However, Ankrum was no match for Grant Enfinger, who quickly stole his lead. Here’s an exclusive look at each of the three Craftsman Truck Series race stage winners and highlights.
Grant Enfinger Takes Stage 1 at Texas Motor Speedway
Once the green flag was dropped, it was game on at Texas Motor Speedway for Tyler Ankrum, who started at the pole position, leading the field at Texas Motor Speedway for the SpeedyCash.com 250. That is, until Grant Enfinger moved up the field and outside the top twenty. His itch to the top was obvious, intermittently increasing his speed until a lap 21 competition caution was dropped. Once the competition caution is lifted, it’s game on for Ankrum, until Layne Riggs begins running alongside him, threatening his lead.
It’s an all-out war on the track as Riggs fights to push Ankrum and claim the lead. Riggs successfully makes the pass rounding turn three, continuing to lead the field. Then out of nowhere, Gio Ruggiero spins out into the infield, collecting an adjacent outside wall and Kaden Honeycutt and Brandon Jones with it. A second caution dropped, halting the race briefly and requiring drivers to pit. Coming out of the pit, Grant Enfinger is followed by Matt Crafton. As Crafton inches closer to Enfinger’s bumper, he pushes the throttle, passing him for the stage 1 lead.

The race continues uneventfully until lap 56, when Ty Majeski, in an attempt to hold off Chandler Smith, runs into the outside wall, ending his bid for the evening. The race resumes, and it’s down to the wire. Corey Heim holds off Chandler Smith, followed by Carson Hocevar, who is pushed out due to a battery issue.
