Los Angeles Angels Star Mike Trout Placed On Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels placed Mike Trout on the IL Thursday night with a bone bruise in his left knee. According to the team, there is no structural damage in Trout’s knee. He was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Seattle Mariners with knee soreness. About 24 hours later, he found himself on the IL.
Injury issues have plagued Trout over the last few years. He was limited to 29 games last season with a torn meniscus. Trout re-tore his meniscus during a rehab assignment after initially recovering. Trout has played in 29 games this year. Hopefully, he will be able to return to the diamond sooner rather than later. Trout is hitting an anemic .179 this season, but is fourth in the league in home runs. How will the Los Angeles Angels fare in his absence?
Los Angeles Angels Season Summary
It has been a tough start to the season for the Angels. They are last in the American League West with a 12-18 record. Things have not gone well for the team as of late. They have lost six straight games and eight of their last nine. Los Angeles has a poor offense. They are 28th in batting average, fifth in home runs, and 24th in runs scored. Much like Trout, the team’s only saving grace on offense is its ability to hit the long ball.
LA’s pitching staff has not been any better. They are 26th in ERA, 27th in opposing batting average, and 27th in WHIP. A poor performance at the plate and on the mound has left the Los Angeles Angels in a rough spot.
Final Thoughts
Injuries to Trout have become too common in recent years. His inability to stay on the field has upended one of the best players in MLB history. Hopefully, Trout can come back soon and play well. His recent history suggests Trout’s IL stint could be a prolonged one.
