Mark Williams Trolls Los Angeles Lakers After Being Eliminated in 2025 NBA Playoffs
The Los Angeles Lakers saw their season end on Wednesday night as they lost in five games to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs. While the duo of LeBron James and Luka Doncic were able to gel well together, the lack of a big man at the center spot was something that was a major flaw in their game. However, they were close to having one of the more underrated centers in the NBA at the trade deadline and now it has come back to bite them in multiple ways. Let’s take a closer look on how Mark Williams was able to get the last laugh.
Mark Williams Trolls the Los Angeles Lakers

Mark Williams was gearing up to be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers as he was traded from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for rookie Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish and draft capital. Despite the trade being accepted, the Lakers would rescind the trade after Williams failed the physical. However, Williams did not buy that as the reason and instead viewed it as buyer’s remorse, which he told FOX Sports NBA Writer Melissa Rohlin.
“I don’t know if, for them, it was what they gave up, or what went into that. But I don’t think it was solely because of my physical. I’ve been playing all year, and I think my minutes and production on the court speaks for itself.”
Mark Williams would play in 44 games this season and averaged 15.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 0.7 steals in 26.6 minutes per game. On his Instagram story after the Los Angeles Lakers lost Game 5 to end their season, Williams would post a meme to respond to the team losing earlier than expected.

One thing the Los Angeles Lakers did not have was a center who could get minutes as Lakers coach JJ Reddick opted to bench Jaxson Hayes in Game 5 and played Dorian Finney-Smith at the starting five in a smaller lineup. It will be interesting to see how the Lakers address this massive hole on their roster, but for the night, Williams was able to have the final laugh.
