New York Mets Offense Explodes In 19-5 Win
The New York Mets had a game to remember Monday on the road against the Washington Nationals. Their offense came alive for a 19-5 drubbing. Left Fielder Brandon Nimmo had a career game in the win. He had 9 RBI. That tied him with Carlos Delgado for the most single-game RBI in franchise history.
Nimmo came alive late in the game. He had a whopping 9 RBI in the 6th-8th inning. Sammy Sosa in August 2002 was the last player to accomplish the feat. Nimmo hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning, a grand slam in the seventh, and a two-run double in the eighth. Jeff McNeil finished 2-of-5 with 3 RBI on Monday. He and Nimmo were the first pair of lefties to combine for 5 XBH, 12 RBI, and no strikeouts since Carl Yastrzemski and Fred Lynn in 1975. Will Nimmo and the New York Mets carry this offense into the remainder of their games this week?
