Logan Webb Twirls Dominating Scoreless Start Against Milwaukee Brewers
Hearing that Logan Webb spun another gem for the San Francisco Giants isn’t surprising at all. On Wednesday night, he kept the Milwaukee Brewers at bay for 6.1 scoreless innings. Webb has been a consistent workhorse for years now and continued that at Oracle Park. He allowed only six hits but also struck out six and walked three. He also lowered his ERA to a sparkling 1.98.
Webb’s Outstanding Outing
Webb continued his strong 2025 on Wednesday. He has never really been known to rack up the swings and misses but has been more of a weak contact pitcher. He showcased that on Wednesday night with a heavy dose of sinkers (44%) and sweepers (34%) while also tossing in a healthy mix of cutters and fastballs to keep the hitters guessing. Two of his six punchouts were from his four-seam. Webb found himself in light trouble in both the first in second innings but came out unscathed.Â
He gave up a leadoff single to Brice Turang, struck out Jackson Chourio, and then walked Christian Yelich to create a little stress for himself. He got back-to-back groundouts from William Contreras and Sal Frelick to end the threat. He started the second walking Rhys Hoskins, but quickly struck out Garrett Mitchel and Joey Ortiz. After Caleb Durbin and Turang singles, the bases were loaded, but Webb sat down Chourio with a 93 mph fastball to keep the score tied 0-0.
Webb cruised through the third, fourth, and fifth innings, going one, two, and three in all, adding two strikeouts and inducing weak contact outs. Things got a little hairy in the 6th, but the Giants’ defense bailed him out. After Contreras singled, he tried to go from first to third on a Frelick single to right, but Mike Yastrzemski gunned him down. He finished off his night in the 7th, leaving it up to the bullpen to solidify the win, which they did 4-2.
What Are the Giants Up To?
The Giants are currently tied for second place in the National League West with the Los Angeles Dodgers. They are both only one game behind the first-place San Diego Padres. It has been a surprising season in the Bay Area. The team is relatively solid, but they are in a gauntlet of a division, so being in the position they are in is very positive indeed.
