Max Fried Outstanding Over 7.2 Innings As New York Yankees Win

Max Fried was outstanding for the Yankees today as they won at Tampa, 4-0 to start a new win streak. Fried and the Yankees took three out of four games from the Rays in Tampa. He flirted with a no-hitter on Sunday. He was outstanding today. Fernando Cruz got his second career save and the bullpen was saved thanks to Fried’s great performance. The Yankees are now 14-8. The Rays had Yandy Diaz batting first and was the designated hitter. Junior Caminero was the third baseman and batted second. Jonathan Aranda batted third and was the first baseman. In the top of the sixth inning, Cody Bellinger hit a solo home run extending the Yankees lead to 3-0. In the top of the ninth inning, the Yankees got an insurance run as Wells hit a home run. That extended the Yankees lead to 4-0.

The brutal loss the Yankees suffered yesterday was still making news today. It may have been the most shocking loss the Yankees suffered in their history. Another day, more good news for the Yankees farm hands. One day after teammate Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz pitched great, Bryce Cunningham, struck out nine and scattered four hits and a walk while throwing 92 pitches (67 for strikes) in 7 innings. Cunningham, the Yankees’ second-round pick last year out of Vanderbilt, has a great 22-to-2 K/BB ratio, a 3.50 ERA, and a 1.00 WHIP in his first three career starts spanning 18 innings.
