Real Madrid’s Secret Plans For Kylian Mbappe’s Injury
Kylian Mbappe has added fuel to the fire regarding the ongoing crisis at Real Madrid by missing the training session. The current La Liga champions are in a crisis, which hasn’t happened since Carlo Ancelotti came to the helm in 2021. The Italian manager has been the heartbeat of Los Blancos since his second appointment at the club in 2021, winning two Champions Leagues and two La Ligas. However, things are of concern, and Mbappe is in the thick of it.
The French player signed for Real Madrid a day after Los Blancos won their 15th Champions League title against Borussia Dortmund in the final. Mbappe left on a free from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but things haven’t gone quite to plan for the World Cup winner in the Spanish capital. Now, the ongoing fitness issues have added fuel to the fire for the club.
How Kylian Mbappe Got Injured?
Mbappe has suffered an ankle injury since the UEFA Champions League exit against Arsenal earlier this week. Real Madrid lost 5-1 on aggregate to the Gunners. They are left with only La Liga and the Copa Del Rey final to play for. They are competing against arch-rivals Barcelona in both of those tournaments.
The injury came about in the 75th minute of the second leg against Arsenal when the opposing midfielder Declan Rice secured a foul against him. Although the outcome meant less for Arsenal, Mbappe didn’t overcome the challenge unscathed. The former PSG man was affected by the challenge before getting taken off for Brahim Diaz.
Real Madrid’s Plan For Their Star Man
Since the UEFA Champions League loss to Arsenal, many Real Madrid players have come under intense criticism, including Mbappe. However, the injury news was the last thing that the Spanish giants would have hoped for. Now, the news from the Athletic claims that the World Cup winner is unlikely to feature in the La Liga game against Athletic Bilbao.
The Frenchman’s ankle is still under close monitoring due to swelling. Real Madrid has decided to keep Mbappe out of action during the weekend to make him fit for the Copa Del Rey final against Barcelona. It remains to be seen how many more fitness tests the former Monaco man will undergo until he gets back up to full speed.
Mbappe’s medical problems are not the only issues that have surfaced recently. In the previous La Liga game against Alaves, he was sent off due to a reckless challenge. However, the suspension didn’t matter, as Real Madrid won 1-0. Hence, the World Cup winner is already set to miss the Bilbao game regardless of his fitness. However, he is in the race to be fit for the mid-week game against Getafe. Madrid are currently sitting four points adrift of Barcelona in the La Liga race.
The Overall Group Affected By Injuries
Mbappe is not the only player affected by medical problems recently. The reigning La Liga champions are also without Ferland Mendy, Andriy Lunin, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao. Many believe that these injuries were fundamental to the club’s inability to defend their Champions League title this season and may need to be moved on from during the summer. Trent Alexander-Arnold is the biggest name getting linked to the club in recent weeks.
Real Madrid’s Champions League exit has sealed Ancelotti’s future at the club. However, there are reports that the Italian may leave after the conclusion of the Copa Del Rey final. Hence, Mbappe and other players hope to bid their manager farewell. Ancelotti has been rumored to take on the Brazilian coaching job with the World Cup coming in 2026.
