Penn State Defensive End Abdul Carter declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on the heels of the team’s Orange Bowl loss on Thursday night. Carter hurt his shoulder in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State, but still made his presence felt in last night’s game against Notre Dame. He had 5 total tackles including one sack in the 27-24 loss.
He is entering the NFL coming off a tremendous season with Penn State. He was a consensus All-American and was sixth in the nation with 12 sacks. Carter was also named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year. The star defensive end was a crucial part of Penn State surrendering the eight-fewest points per game and surrendering the seventh-fewest yards per game. Which still will draft the Penn State prospect in April’s NFL Draft?

According to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr, the Penn State Defensive End is the No. 2 available player in the 2025 NFL Draft. Carter moved from linebacker to defensive end this season, and that versatility will bode well for him as he prepares for the next level.
Final Thoughts
The All-American is projected to be a top 10 pick in the NFL Draft as he is one of the best projects in the nation. The Tennessee Titans own the No. 1 pick, and many teams will be in the market for a player of Carter’s caliber. Colorado Wide Receiver/Cornerback Travis Hunter is the top prospect in the NFL Draft, and Quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward will also be highly touted. Carter’s decision will have him playing on Sundays later this year, and whichever team drafts him, will have a generational prospect on their squad.
