San Francisco 49ers Linebacker Dre Greenlaw Activated For Tonight’s Game

San Francisco 49ers

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport the San Francisco 49ers are set to activate Linebacker Dre Greenlaw before tonight’s home game against the Los Angeles Rams. Greenlaw suffered a Torn ACL in February’s Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He had terrible luck as he suffered the injury merely running onto the football field. Greenlaw has 446 career tackles and 3.5 sacks. He played a critical part in the San Francisco 49ers run to the Super Bowl last year. He had 18 total tackles which was 11th in the league during the postseason. After not playing in an NFL game in nearly a year, he will be eased back into action by the San Francisco 49ers. How will the team’s defense fare with the return of one of their defense’s best players?

San Francisco 49ers Season Summary

The team has been disappointing this season. With a 6-7 record, their playoff chances are only 11%. San Francisco has dealt with injuries to Running Back Christian McCaffrey, Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk, and Defensive End Nick Bosa. The team’s offense has been good again this year. They are fourth in total yards and 13th in points per game. An issue where this injury has hurt the team is in the red zone. They are 22nd in the league in red zone percentage this season.

The Niners defense has also been respectable this season. They are third in yards allowed and 21st in points allowed. Their defense has allowed 27+ points four times this season after doing so only three times all of last season.

Final Thoughts

Greenlaw, in whatever role he will play, will hope to slow down a Los Angeles Rams offense coming off 44 points on Sunday in a victory against the Buffalo Bills. Both teams need a win tonight as they look to keep their NFL Playoff hopes alive.
