Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase is chasing a piece of NFL history over the final four games of the NFL regular season. Chase is eyeing the receiving triple crown which means leading the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in a single season. The last player to complete this gauntlet was Los Angeles Rams Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp in 2021.
Chase is in a great position to win the triple crown with a month remaining in the regular as he is leading the league in receptions(93), receiving yards(1,319), and receiving touchdowns(15). Chase is coming off a great game last night on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. He had a season-high 14 receptions, 177 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns. Chase’s performance was one of the main reasons behind the Cincinnati Bengals walking away with the 27-20 victory. Will Chase be able to win the receiving triple crown this season?

The Bengals(5-8) are in danger of missing the NFL Playoffs for the second consecutive season. Even with last night’s victory, the Cincinnati Bengals have a mere 3% chance to make the postseason. It has been a tale of two different teams this season, and that is why Cincinnati has had such a disappointing season. The offense has been one of the league’s best while their defense has been one of the NFL’s worst.
The team’s offense has been led by Quarterback Joe Burrow this season who leads the league in passing yards and touchdowns and is second in QBR. Cincinnati’s offense is ninth in the league in yards per game and sixth in points per game. On the other hand, the Bengals defense is 26th in yards allowed per game and 29th in points allowed.
Final Thoughts
Chase’s quest to win the triple crown may take the front seat to the team’s playoff aspirations. A sluggish start to the season for the Bengals, something which has become commonplace, hurt them this season. The Cincinnati Bengals got off to a 1-4 start this season and were never able to recover. An MVP-caliber season by both Burrow and Chase has unfortunately been wasted in terms of postseason hopes.
On a positive note, Cincinnati has a relatively soft two games coming up. They visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and host the Cleveland Browns on December 22. The Bengals defeated the Browns 21-14 in Week 7 and Chase had one of his worst games this season with 55 receiving yards and a touchdown. Chase will look to make NFL history as the Cincinnati Bengals hope to finish off a disappointing season on a high note.
