Oklahoma State Running Back Ollie Gordon II Declares For 2025 NFL Draft

Ollie Gordon II

Oklahoma State Running Back Ollie Gordon II officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He posted his decision on X earlier this afternoon as he had one year of eligibility remaining in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Gordon II has been one of the best running backs in the nation, but he took the nation by storm in 2023.

In 2023, he rushed for a whopping 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns. He led the nation in rushing yards during his sophomore season and was second in rushing touchdowns. His spectacular season led to a first-place Heisman Trophy vote, two second-place votes, and 24 third-place votes. Gordon II finished his college career with 2,920 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns. How will the star running back fit in at the next level?

Gordon II is not only the top running back prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, but according to PFF, he is the No. 4 prospect in April’s NFL Draft. What also buoys his chances to be drafted highly at the next level is the fact that 2024 has been the year of the running back in the National Football League. The position had been devalued in recent years as talent evaluators did not deem it necessary to have a top running back on their roster. That line of thinking changed when the Philadelphia Eagles signed Running Back Saquon Barkley and the Baltimore Ravens signed Derrick Henry this offseason.

Barkley is on the short list of NFL MVP candidates and on pace to break the all-time rushing record. Henry has had a spectacular season as well. He is second in the league in carries, second in rushing yards, and is leading the league in rushing touchdowns. The most recent mock drafts do not include Gordon II as he just made his decision regarding taking his talent to the next level.

Final Thoughts

Gordon II has one of the best running backs during his three-year tenure at Oklahoma State. He will look to make an immediate impact in the NFL as a young running back can make a massive difference for a team. Regardless of which team drafts Gordon II, they will be getting one of college football’s best players. With the book officially closed on his college career, Gordon II will be fondly remembered for his time in college.
