Draymond Green Says Klay Thompson ‘Ghosted’ Stephen Curry

Draymond Green had some comments on the relationship between Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Power Forward Draymond Green recently said that Shooting Guard Klay Thompson “ghosted” fellow Point Guard Stephen Curry before Tuesday’s Dallas Mavericks-Golden State Warriors game at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. Green, 34, can be described as a man of many words. Green’s show, “The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis,” showcases a wide range of thoughts from him and Davis, 45, a former Point Guard on the 2006-07 “We Believe” Warriors team.

In a recent episode, Green shared some thoughts about the Mavericks-Warriors game, which was much-anticipated due to Thompson’s return to the Bay Area. In case you missed it, “Salute Captain Klay” night consisted of 400 Warriors employees wearing captain hats and greeting Thompson at the Chase Center before pregame festivities, including a ceremony paying tribute to Thompson’s contributions to the team and tradition of boating across the Bay to the team’s home games.

What Draymond Green Said

Draymond Green recently recorded a new episode of his podcast “The Draymond Green Show With Baron Davis.” Green said the now-Dallas Mavericks Guard Klay Thompson “ghosted” former “Splash Brother” Stephen Curry ahead of his first game against the Golden State Warriors. “Ghosting” is a term referring to the abrupt cutting off of someone without giving that person any warning or explanation for doing so. Green added that Curry “got pissed” when he had a text conversation with Thompson and got left on read.

Thompson might’ve been busy or had to deal with something that came up, but Green’s recent comments were thought-provoking for some if not most, fans. Thompson and Curry are reportedly close friends, despite not being close until their third season when they played on Team USA together. In addition, Thompson, Curry, and Green were the Warriors’ Big Three for years, so Green’s comments should provide insight into the trio’s relationship with one another.

Green’s Claims

Draymond Green’s recent claims on his show were likely true, given that Green, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry were reportedly close friends on and off the court for the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors’ “Big Three” and the “Splash Brothers” were one of the biggest trios and duos for over a decade.

Draymond Green’s claims have sparked discussions in the basketball world. There wasn’t outright hostility from Thompson and the Mavericks, Curry and the Warriors, or Warriors fans, so it’s safe to say that Thompson and Curry both had a point to prove to the general public. Thompson is trying to achieve a redemption season, while Curry strives to put on a show after a left peroneal strain. The Warriors’ 120-117 win over the Mavericks was a small sample size of a potential rivalry.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors

The Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors are not much of a rivalry. The Mavericks, who are coming off an NBA Finals appearance against the Boston Celtics, have been searching for the missing piece to the puzzle, and Thompson might be that missing piece. Thompson is up in age, but his shooting can fill in the Mavericks’ void of three-point shooting, should the Mavericks return to the Finals. The team’s three-point shooting was just 36.1% from the three-point line, as Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were the only players who hit eight or more three-pointers in the Finals.

There haven’t been many heated rivalries in today’s NBA, as players changed teams too much and excessive legislation removed some flash points that would’ve been remembered for years. However, Golden State and Dallas could become a heated rivalry, as Tuesday’s game showed that everyone knew the stakes and nobody questioned whether the key players would be up for the challenge.
