Jack Roslovic: The Unexpected Carolina Hurricanes MVP

Jack Roslovic has been great this season for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jack Roslovic has been stirring up this ice in the 2024-2025 NHL season. After some impressive gameplay this year for the Carolina Hurricanes, Roslovic’s career isn’t just taking off but has exploded. Altogether, Roslovic’s career has had impressive moments, but the majority was nothing to write home about. After being signed as a free agent to the Carolina Hurricanes, he has made headlines and has become an absolute menace on the ice.

Jack Roslovic’s Early Career

Jack Roslovic started his NHL career in the 2015 Entry Draft. The Winnipeg Jets selected him as the 25th overall pick. Roslovic played for the Jets for four seasons, playing 180 games and earning 67 points. Winnipeg traded Roslovic to his hometown team in a two-part trade. On January 23, 2021, Roslovic and Patrik Laine were both sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Pierre Luc-Dubois and a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Despite the potential of becoming a hometown hero, Roslovic wasn’t anything out of the ordinary during his time with Columbus. Out of four seasons with Columbus, he played 246 games and scored 51 goals. During his last season with the Blue Jackets, the center played 40 games and only scored six goals, prompting his next trade.

On March 8, 2024, Roslovic traded jerseys once again. He headed east to the New York Rangers, in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. Roslovic only spent a season with New York, playing 19 games in the 2023-2024 season. He garnered three goals, five assists, and 31 shots on goal. While his career average shooting percentage was 11.53% thus far, this season has skyrocketed his statistics in only 12 games played up to now in the still-young 2024-2025 NHL season.

A Star Finally Emerges

Jack Roslovic was signed as a free agent by the Carolina Hurricanes for a one-year contract, worth $2.8 million. His signing a few months ago did not make the headlines, but Jack Roslovic is certainly breaking out this season. As of November 8, 2024, Roslovic has spent an average time on the ice of 13 minutes and 32 seconds. With that being said, he has only played 12 games wearing a Carolina Hurricanes jersey. Starting the new season as a Hurricane, Roslovic has one assist and nine goals so far. He has 10 points and is up +5, but is highly anticipated to raise his numbers by tomorrow’s game against the Colorado Avalanche at 9:00 p.m. EST.

Jack Roslovic has broken out from his previous reputation and has dominated the offensive zone in the majority of games he has participated in. From “zero to hero” Roslovic is highly favored and has earned some serious looks from fans, opponents, and management alike. Compared to his previously mentioned career shooting percentage, Jack Roslovic’s percentage has catapulted far beyond his previous seasons, now standing at 27.3%.  During the Carolina Hurricane’s most recent game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Roslovic tallied two goals and one assist. Roslovic carried the club to their eighth straight win.

Jack Roslovic: Finally at Home

Jack Roslovic has finally found his home after an arguably standard, career start. After being drafted by the Winnipeg Jets, and spending a period with other hockey clubs, he has finally found his home. Roslovic has been intimidating on the forecheck, complimentary to his linemates, and a blitz on the ice. Paired with his comfortability in the lineup, and sheer speed on skates, he has pounded pucks to the back net consistently for Carolina.

To add to the point, he has not only been dependable for Carolina but has led the hockey club in goals this season.  The twenty-seven-year-old has plenty of time to maintain his new-found stardom and become a household name for NHL families across the world and across the ice.
