American Taylor Fritz received good news before even paling his first round match at the Paris Masters. Fritz has qualified for the season-ending ATP Tour Finals for the second time in the past three years. Fritz is the fifth player to compete at Inalpi Arena in Turin from November 10-17. He earned his place at the season finale with Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Daniil Medvedev.
He clinched his spot at the ATP Finals a day after he turned 27. Fritz’s biggest moment of the year came at the US Open, where he advanced to his first major final. The home favorite became the first American male to make a Grand Slam singles final since Andy Roddick at Wimbledon in 2009.
A Second Chance For Taylor Fritz
Two years ago, Taylor Fritz made his ATP Finals in Turin. He was an alternate after Carlos Alcaraz withdrew due to injury. During that season he claimed his first and so far only Masters 1000 title and reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time. The American went 2-1 in round-robin play, earning victories against Rafael Nadal and Felix Auger-Aliassime. He fell in the semifinals to Novak Djokovic.
Fritz has qualified for the second time in three seasons and has been rewarded for his consistency this season. He is 49-20 on the season with a pair of titles and a trip to the US Open final. This year he emerged victorious at Delray Beach and Eastbourne. He also made the final in Munich, battled to the semifinals in Madrid and Shanghai, and advanced to major quarterfinals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. The California kid became the fifth player to qualify for this year’s ATP Finals because of Andrey Rublev’s early exit at the Paris Masters.
After Taylor Fritz, Who Can Join Him In Italy
Three spots remain to be filled to complete the lineup. It is currently held by Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud, and Andrey Rublev. Djokovic has not yet made a statement and has also decided not to defend his title in the current 1000 Masters event in Paris. Also, Rublev was eliminated at the same event. Fans can pay attention to the performance of Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov, or Stefanos Tsitsipas.
On Tuesday, Rublev’s bid to secure his place at the prestigious year-end event for a fifth straight season was put in jeopardy. He will now be left to watch how his fate plays out. Francisco Cerundulo ousted the No. 6 seed, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5), in the second round.
Taylor Fritz’s Drastic Hairstyle Change Might Bring Good Luck
Ahead of the 2024 Paris Masters, Taylor Fritz recently underwent a significant style change. He decided to turn blonde. While Taylor Fritz turned heads with this drastic change, it could also be a genius move from him. He might be entering the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals as one of the dark horses. Taking the attention away from his result with his new hairstyle might relieve some of the pressure that he might have to face.
