Belal Muhammad Mocks Ilia Topuria’s Big Plans

Belal Muhammad

Belal Muhammad dominated Leon Edwards and took the Welterweight Title. The current Champion has many contenders, including Shavkat Rakhmonov. After winning the title, he was not sure if he would give Shavkat a chance, but now he is ready to face the Challenger.

Although Muhammad is always ready to fight against any opponent, he doesn’t take a fighter two divisions below him seriously. Muhammad was recently engaged in a trash talk with Ilia Topuria after he asked the UFC featherweight champion to be careful with his words regarding Islam Makhachev.

Belal Muhammad’s Reply to MMA Fighting

Muhammad has been training with Khabib and Makhachev for years. Topuria showed interest in focusing on the 155-pound title, but he has spent most of his time below 155, so this was a shock to everyone.

This led to an exchange on social media, with Topuria going even further, stating that he aimed to be the UFC’s first-ever three-division champion, threatening Makhachev and Muhammad. But on the other side, Muhammad does not take him very seriously and he doesn’t even consider him worthy of fighting.

Belal Muhammad said this in an interview with MMA Fighting. “I think that dude’s got Napoleon syndrome or something. Short guys always act like they’re tough. I think he started coming at me because somebody asked me why is he coming at Islam Makhachev. I said bro, he needs to focus on [Max] Holloway, who’s in front of him and you don’t want to disrespect the guys from Dagestan because they see you in person, they’re going to slap you. They don’t take that stuff. They don’t play the trash talk game. It’s real life to them.”

Upcoming Fights in UFC

According tt Topuria, he wants to win championships in several divisions, so he has to start by retaining his featherweight title against Max Holloway at UFC 308. Holloway has a killer strike, which will give Topuria a hard time, as we saw in the BMF Championship.

It’s his first defense, so he has to defeat Holloway. Still, even if Topuria wins, Muhammad is convinced that he is not prepared to jump to a higher-weight division and fight a champion like the Dagestani Champion Makhachev.

Before he could even consider a welterweight fight, he would need to gain over 25 pounds. On the other hand, Muhammad respects Holloway and wants him to win this fight. Muhammad also analyzed the plus points of UFC 308, and according to him, Ilia has very little chance of winning this match.

Final Thoughts

The best thing to do in these situations is to focus on their fights. These trash talks might become bigger and interrupt the upcoming events. Rakhmonov will fight the Welterweight Champion in 2025.

UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed that the Uzbak fighter is the best contender for Muhammad, and if Muhammad wins, he will face the famous African fighter known as Kamaru Usman. But if Muhammad managed to go through both of them, then he would be considered one of the dominant forces in all of the UFC. What are your thoughts about the future of Belal Muhammad and Ilia Topuria?
