Healthy Chicago Bears Hunting Wounded Commanders In Week 8

The Chicago Bears prepare to face the Commanders on Sunday,

Which Washington Commanders players will be on the hunting grounds for the Chicago Bears to attack? The Bears’ defense would love to get their hands on Commanders’ rookie QB Jayden Daniels, but they may have to settle for a crack at veteran signal-caller Marcus Mariota. Either way, the Washington offense is legit – boasting a top-10 offensive line in the NFL and they have a stable of quality running backs to battle the Bears.

Robust Commanders Injuries

The health of Washington QB Jayden Daniels is up in the air for their game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland. But, there are more key players banged up like rookie Left Tackle Brandon Coleman. Coleman has been a major contributor for the Commanders this season, playing on 50% of snaps on offense before exiting their Week 7 blowout win over the Carolina Panthers with a concussion.

Coleman did not participate in practice on Wednesday along with Daniels (ribs) and Veteran TE Zach Ertz, who was given a rest day. Limited practice participants for the Washington Commanders included three starters on the o-line: LG Nick Allegretti (ankle), Center Tyler Biadasz (thumb), and LT Cornelius Lucas (neck). Also limited were WR Dyami Brown (ankle) who has a 41-yard TD this season, starting DE Clelin Ferrell (knee), starting SLB Dante Fowler Jr. (groin), and rotational DB Tyler Owens (shin).

Chicago Bears Getting Healthy

In the Chicago Bears’ last game in week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, their Long Snapper Scott Daly injured his knee and could not return to the game. That led to Bears TE Cole Kmet filling in as the long snapper, making him the first player in NFL history to score back-to-back touchdowns and snap back-to-back successful PATs. Though Kmet is up for the task again, the Chicago Bears are happy to have LS Scott Daly back at practice as a full participant. Also participating fully was Defensive Lineman Jacob Martin (toe) coming off of injured reserve.

Other Chicago Bears players who got back on the practice field after missing the last game in London are Cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson (calf) and Terell Smith (hip), who both got in limited sessions on Wednesday. Also, a limited practice participant was second-string Defensive Tackle Zacch Pickens (groin). Pickens hasn’t played since Week Two against the Texans when he re-aggravated his groin injury from training camp. OL Larry Borom (ankle) and RB Travis Homer (finger) were also activated from IR and got in limited sessions with the team on Wednesday.

Final Thoughts

The Chicago Bears are generally much healthier right now coming out of their bye than the Washington Commanders, who won’t see their bye until week 14. However, a few key defenders for the Chicago Bears were not seen at practice to start the week. Starting Strong Safety Jaquan Brisker, who has been out since sustaining a concussion against the Carolina Panthers in week 5, and starting Nickelback Kyler Gordon who was injured in week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Both teams will be ready for a brawl in our “Nation’s Capital,” no matter who is on the field for either side.
