The former WBO junior middleweight title-holder Tim Tszyu has set himself for a fight against Bakhram Murtazaliev, the current IBF junior middleweight champion, on October 19th. The fight will happen at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, and the US, and it will air live on Prime Video. It is Tszyu’s first significant fight since his brutal defeat against Sebastian Fundora earlier this year. Tszyu is keen on making a comeback to boxing by setting the pace right away and has set his heart on knocking Murtazaliev down, if possible, before the first round ends.

Tim Tszyu: A Comeback with a Purpose

The significance of Tim Tszyu’s return is revealed when he gets an opportunity to renounce his bitter split decision loss to Sebastian Fundora in March. That fight, when there was an enormous deep cut early in the fight, was hard for Tim Tszyu to get the upper hand. He made fundamental mistakes, such as swinging at balls he could have let go of and failing to respect the left-hander’s stature by trying to hit towering figures from Fundora. Still, he could not execute a punch that would knock the opponent out and lost a close fight. He has emphasized that in the ring, every moment counts, and now he feels physically and mentally fully prepared to face Murtazaliev.

A Tough Opponent in Murtazaliev

At 6ft tall and holding an unbeaten record of 22 fights and no losses, Bakhram Murtazaliev appears to be a tough contender for Tim Tszyu. He is generally good in punch strength and combining and above all a very adventurous fighter who does not mind gambling to win. Despite Murtazaliev’s undefeated record, he will have a hard time getting past him, and there is always the possibility that Uzbek will get caught and knocked out. However, he understands that recklessness has no place in his game, not if he wishes to achieve the knockout in the opening rounds. Murtazaliev has the skills and the power to punish an opponent for mistakes, and he should not aim to overwhelm his opponent like he did against language, as he will be in for a rude shock.

Final Thoughts

The fight with Murtazaliev is significant for Tim Tszyu, becoming a part of his career turning point. Many would like to know whether the fighter possesses the required mental and physical strength to retain his title if he loses his initial professional match. A dominant victory over a stern test like Murtazaliev would surely quell these doubts and have Tim Tszyu back on track toward another championship run. In the end, Tszyu’s fight on Saturday night will be more than just for the title. It has now become a measure of how determined he is and how strong he has become to face another life challenge. A win would help him build up his confidence and prepare him for even greater or more complicated tasks in the future.
