Nashville Predators Having a Rough Start To 2024-25 Season

The Nashville Predators have struggled to begin the season.

The Nashville Predators are starting the season on a four-game losing streak. This is not how they wanted their season to start, especially after acquiring Forwards Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos in the offseason. The Predators lost in their home opener against the Dallas Stars followed by getting shutout by the Detroit Red Wings, against the Seattle Kraken getting blown out 7-3, and last night they lost 4-2 to the Edmonton Oilers.

Nashville Predators Starting the Season Winless

This is not the start the Predators and Head Coach Andrew Brunette had in mind. This week Brunette has mentioned that it’s been a little bit frustrating not being able to find the back of the net and come up with wins. Head Coach Andrew Brunette said after Monday’s practice after the Kraken loss that, “I think our urgency and our work ethic and our compete is there, but I think just some of our little details could be better.”

Goaltender Juuse Saros played in the Detroit Red Wings game and Seattle Kraken game. He has been battling a lower-body injury he sustained in the preseason. He has a save percentage of .855% and has let in eight goals in two games. It’s not all Saros’ fault, the Nashville Predators have also been playing poorly in their own zone at times.  Saros will also have to play better in the net for the Nashville Predators to get the team’s confidence up and his.

The Predators did battle back to even the score but then it was too late when Seattle scored twice in the first three minutes into the third period. The Nashville Predators were not able to things around last night the Edmonton Oilers. They will look to get revenge on the Detroit Red Wings at home on Saturday.

Final Thoughts

However, Brunette doesn’t seem to be worried in this early NHL season or the start the Nashville Predators are having so far. “You see through the League right now, a lot of teams are going through this, and tonight was a perfect example, We’re three games in, and we deserve to really be where we are right now… It’s frustrating, but it’s also something we have to go through again and try to nip it in the bud and get going in the right direction.”

The NHL season is still young only a handful of teams have played more than five games so far. The NHL is going on the third week of the season, and the Predators are confident they can get to the style of play they prefer. Starting 0-4 is not ideal for the Predators but it’s not for any other NHL team either.

Acquiring new players can also take time to get the right line chemistry and who they feel comfortable playing with. Both forwards are excited about their new opportunity in Nashville. The Nashville Predators do not need to hit the panic button just yet.
